Main Menu options
Overview
This program will manage your aircraft and site data. This includes TLMC’s, Inventory, Communications and a host of other things. The topics, or contents, are laid out just like the menu structure within BDM. From most anywhere within BDM you can go to the HELP menu items: press the [F1] key from most dialog boxes or screens to get context sensitive windows help.
This program has been designed with a couple steadfast principals:
1.Give the user as much information as possible to steer him/her into making the correct choice, and
2.The [ESC] key will get you out of 99.99 percent of any situation your into.
In the first principal almost every window that appears will have help available at the bottom of that window. As you move your arrow keys from topic to topic--item to item--the bottom of the screen will tell you what is going on. When there is no help--context sensitive help--at the bottom of the window press the [F1] key to view the options available wherever you are.
The second principal is this: if you are ever stuck all you need to do is press the [ESC] key to abort whatever it is that you were doing. Sometimes the program might ask you if your sure that you want to back out, other times it will beep at you--but the [ESC] will almost always back you out of what you are working on.
BDM is a tool written in a console environment. It is not a native windows program however it does work with the latest windows operating systems. With this in mind there is no mouse control. Every action needs to be accomplished via the keyboard and the required key sequences available. Access to BDM is via the application launcher which is a windows program, or from the command line by going to the application directory and running the executable BDM.EXE.
The help system is a windows html program. The tools necessary have been (will be) installed so you can directly call context sensitive help from within BDM.
