Modify TLMC (Master)

Send comments on this topic.

[ALT-M] takes you to the modify TLMC screen.

From this screen you will create a new master TBO file or modify an existing one. Three example aircraft are included: U-21, C-12, and C-21; they are not current but only serve as examples of how the program works as well as templates for creation.

The file you create is free form. This means it is up to you to design and administer the information contained within. For example, the maintenance manual from the manufacturer provided the information to build out these aircraft master TLMC's. The check mark (as shown above) designates that the aircraft model is applicable to the record indicator. The record indicator (RI) is a key field and must be unique; it should follow the convention show above. The only restriction is that it should not begin with an RG as that is reserved for records created outside of the TLMC.

There is one master TLMC for a model (e.g. C-12) and within the model can be many different types (e.g. A/C/FAC). As a model has many parts or inspections based on the same specifications, we can use the grid example above to find common records that server multiple types--thus the check mark in the type column.

[RI]

This field has seven characters. Since this was a U-21 the first character is a U. It must be a character but it can be any character not specifically aligned to the aircraft designator. The next character is the type of inspection. I=inspection, R=replacement, W=wash, L=lube, and O=overhaul. The next four characters are a number sequence. Starting with 0000 for each of the inspection types, the most important take-away here is that there should be no duplicates within an inspection item. For example, UI0010 and UR0010 is acceptable, whereas UI0010 and UI0010 for two different inspection items is not. Increment each inspection item by 10 which will allow additional inspection items to be inserted as new items come into play.

[ITEM]

Here you will enter a short description of the inspection item.

[ATA]

ATA code

[I]

Inspection type: I, R, W, L, O

[POS]

abbreviated position on aircraft where the due item is located

[S/N]

Serial number, leave blank

[FREQ]

Frequency of due item

[UOM]

Unit of Measure goes along with FREQ: DY=Day, MO=Month, YR=Year, HR=Hour, LDG= Landings, %UL=Percent of life, FLT=Flights

[TIMEDUE]

Leave blank: This is a template

[LDGDUE]

Leave blank: This is a template

[DATEDUE]

Leave blank: This is a template

[DEPEND]

Sometimes one item is linked to another record--that is they should both be done at the same time. Therefore you will put the other record affected in this column. Currently only 1 record can be linked to another. This comes into play when you accomplish an item. ROMX will ask if you want to update the linked record which you can fill out at the same time. Better to create all the inspection items first before you link an additional record to an entry.

You can look at any of the example master TLMC's to get an understanding of the flow and requirements to build out a master list. It requires lots of planning on your part as well as the maintenance due requirements from the TLMC in chapter 5 of your maintenance manual as well as other sources.

Post Creation Updates

After creating an aircraft based on this template you can easily modify any changes by updating the template and running the update processor. The rules for updating a master TLMC are as follows if aircraft have been created:

Modifying a record is fine if all you are doing is changing when it's due (i.e. an inspection from 100 hours to 200 hours)

Modifying a record is NOT fine if you are changing a due requirement (i.e. an inspection from TIMEDUE to LDGSDUE)

To change a due requirement on an existing record requires a new record ID (i.e. an inspection from TIMEDUE to LDGSDUE)

If the due requirement is no longer being tracked remove the check mark on the master for the model affected

Create a new record for a new due requirement and check the applicable aircraft with a check mark
