Q. How do I activate site data sheets when there are no aircraft associated with a certain base?

A. This question certainly will arise in the overseas theater when site data uploading cannot be accomplished due to poor communication lines. In this instance it will be necessary to manually enter the Base number (only) in the SHARK.DBF file [CTRL-F5]--this will ensure that the program does not try to find an (the norm) aircraft associated to that base. Upon retrieving the information the program will create a blank site data sheet. Since no data is coming upstream (via XBDM) the only changes to a site data sheet will be the ones you make.

IF YOU CREATE A SITE DATA SHEET THAT IS REALLY UNDER SOMEONE ELSE’S CARE YOU WILL PROBABLY OVERWRITE THE DATAFILE IN THE OFFICE WITH INCORRECT INFORMATION. YOU NEED TO THINK TWICE ABOUT ADDING A FILE IF IT IS NOT UNDER YOUR CARE AND FEEDING. LIKEWISE, IF SITE RESPONSIBILITY IS TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER MANAGER YOU WILL NEED TO DELETE THE DATAFILE FROM YOUR COMPUTER MANUALLY. IN THIS CASE, CONTACT COMPUTER SERVICES IN MADISON AT EXT. 572
