Special - Send Files

If you plan on using this utility edit the BDM.INI file to activate the altp switch to ON. This is in the [xfer] header section. This switch brings up the alternate dialer table instead of defaulting to your RM’s office when using the Z-Send (Zmodem-Send) function.

Pressing [F1] at the screen will display help. The selectable items are available.

Dir/Batch - Change Directory/View Batch file

Add    - Add highlighted file to current batch list

Rem    - Remove highlighted file from batch list

Z-Send - Send the files listed in batch file list

Kill   - Kill/Remove the current batch file list

Using this utility is not as difficult as it may seem. Locate the file(s) you want to send by using the up and down arrow keys (Navigate the directories as required) and then press the space bar to tag that item if more than one file exists. Toggle over to ADD and press [ENTER] to prompt the question - Add marked files to batch (Y/N). Select [Y] and you will be prompted to create a new batch file. If you are just adding a file, select [N] otherwise, [Y] to create a brand new file.  You can view the batch file anytime you like by highlighting any file in the directory (not a <dir>), toggling over to Dir/Batch and pressing [ENTER] to view the batch file.

When you are ready to send the data, turn the modem on and select Z-Send. You will be prompted to dump the files to the Office, Select Y to go to the PHONE table. This table is user configurable. There are three (3) fields:

BASE    - Base Number

DIAL    - Number to Dial

COMMENTS- Comments about the base

For example, one entry in my PHONE table:

BASE     - 850

DIAL     - 0044 1 638 718146

COMMENTS - BASE 850 via SPIKE

Highlight the base or create a new entry via [F8 ] and then press [F12] to dial the base. The remainder of the process is automatic. You can visually watch what’s happening. Upon completion you will be prompted towards success or failure. If a failure try it again. Not all transfers complete the first try especially if the receiver has no idea that you are calling.

For this transfer to work the person you are calling must be in Receive-Data Files mode of operation. No Receive mode, no data sent...
