Remote Serial Access

Remote control software such as Carbon Copy from Microcom can allow someone to control your computer from another location. Likewise, you could control someone’s computer from your desktop. The remote software is in control at all times. To use BDM with remote control software it is necessary to disable the serial port (communication lines) availability. This is required because, in effect, both programs would try and compete for the same port/modem. In real terms this is fatal (crash-able/lockup) to your computer.

Accessing the Remote serial access switch simply disables the serial port in BDM. You should only deactivate the port when directed to by a supervisor or operations computer services and then, only when using the remote control software as the host (receiver).
