This MASTER parts table is a copy of every part we have in our system. Every so often it will be updated by the office as changes take effect.
This table is used to validate any part number that is used. It does this by cross referencing everything. Using this method we can cut down on the number of errors (in part number mismatches) received by the field. You will be comfortable in knowing that you have the same master as they (the office) do.
You can look at parts in two different methods. First, The Part Number index (default) shows you a listing of all parts in sequential order starting with numbers and then going to alpha. This is in contrast to the big book listing that your used to. I would equate this to the new method of indexing as opposed to the old method that we have used in the past. The second method is via Description. You will be able to look up anything via it’s description and not just it’s part number.
The available key options are as follows:
CTRL-F1 - Activate PN index
CTRL-F2 - Activate DESC index
CTRL-F6 - Superseded find
CTRL-F8 - Index (FAST) find
ALT-F - Find anything (SLOW but powerful)
The table fields are as follows:
PN - Part Number
DESC - Description
TYPE - Type of Inventory
UOM - Unit of Measure
PG - Parts Group
SUP - Superseded number
SC - Superseder code
RC - Repairable code
LP - List Price of Part
The superseded find is designed to locate the latest greatest part number. It will look beyond a single search to find all the links. When activated on a part that is superseded the highlight bar will stop on the new number while the original will be displayed in the lower right hand corner.
